When you apply for counselling at OTR, you will be invited to attend an intake appointment. This is not a general counselling session but a chance for you to ask questions and complete an assessment with one of our experienced counsellors.
When considering whether counselling is for you, it can be helpful to understand some of the many different approaches to counselling that are available. A description of these are on our Counselling Approaches pages.
You may also have concerns about:
At Off the Record we have male and female counsellors who are trained and experienced in a variety of approaches and we believe that you should be able to make an informed choice. We also have a number of counsellors who are in the latter stages of their counselling training and as part of our assessment process, we ensure that we indicate to our administrators the level of training we expect to be required for your particular issues.
At your intake appointment, you will also be asked to indicate the best days and times when you will be available for regular appointments. We recommend that you attend weekly and we will discuss a contribution that you will be asked to pay at your intake appointment and each regular appointment.
The counselling intake session is designed to help you find an approach that works for you.
