Intake Appointment

When you apply for counselling at OTR, you will be invited to attend an intake assessment appointment.  This is not a general counselling session but a chance for you to ask questions and complete an assessment with one of our experienced counsellors.

Intake assessments last about 45-50mins can be face to face or remote appointments.  Generally, most appointments are held during the daytime, Monday to Friday between 10 am and 6 pm.

We will organise an evening face to face appointment after 6 pm if that is all you are able to do but it may take a bit longer to get you booked in.

Just state on the online form when you complete it what your availability is, whether Morning or Afternoon etc and which days.

The more availability and flexibility you have the quicker we can get you booked in.

Our remote sessions can be a bit more flexible so if you do have limited availability this may be the best choice for you. Remote sessions are usually via a video format such as teams or zoom but you may be able to have a phone consultation if preferred. Again just state on the online form what you would prefer.

When considering whether counselling is for you, it can be helpful to understand some of the many different approaches to counselling that are available. A description of these are on our Counselling Approaches pages.

You may also have concerns about:

  • working with a male or female counsellor
  • having couples or individual counselling
  • finding a counsellor who has an understanding of your particular issues.

At Off the Record, we have male and female counsellors who are trained and experienced in a variety of approaches and we believe that you should be able to make an informed choice. We also have a number of counsellors who are in the latter stages of their counselling training and as part of our assessment process, we ensure that we indicate to our administrators the level of training we expect to be required for your particular issues.

At your intake appointment, you will also be asked to indicate the best days and times when you will be available for regular appointments.

We will also discuss a contribution that you will be asked to pay at your intake appointment and each regular appointment

The counselling intake session is designed to help you find an approach that works for you.

~ Waiting List ~

Open

We are pleased to say that we have some daytime spaces available*.

If you would like to have counselling sessions with us please fill out our online form and we will get back to you to arrange an initial intake assessment appointment.

Although we do try to get you booked in for sessions as quickly as we can, it sometimes takes us longer if we do not have spaces which match your availability or a counsellor to match your issues.

However, if you can be flexible with your availability it does help us to get you booked in sooner.

        Thank You !!

*subject to availability and counselling needs. You may have to wait for another space to become available if we can not match you with a suitable counsellor.
